Not after they have left our care, our commitment is to provide a healthy and strong colony as described in our listing, and provide support and goodwill as necessary. We strongly encourage you come to inspect the colonies with us before you take them, this means you must come when there is sufficient daylight to inspect. We do not let any colony go out that has any issues, so rest assured you will get healthy colony at point of sale. Once you’ve taken delivery the welfare of the bees is solely your responsibility, as discussed in terms and conditions.
Yes, our honey will candy after some time, most types of honey will naturally candy if raw and unpasturised and this is one way to confirm it’s raw, however some are less likely to candy. If you read Honey and Pollen Flora by Alan Clemson, you’ll see refrences made in regards to various species and the properties of honey they make, he notes how readily a honey candies, the grain fine or coarse, even the colour and how long the honey will string out before candying, so as to help identify. Due to having so many flowering species where our bees habitate, most of our honey will be a multi floral origin, however we don’t blend different honey’s after extraction. There’s nothing wrong with candied honey, it’s only mainstream consumer conditioning that has perpetuated the myth that candied honey is somehow inferior, the opposite is true !
